Mildew On Your Boat!

Mildew on your boat is a never ending battle.  The key to dealing with mildew is to catch it as soon as possible and deal with it right away.

When you decide to tackle mildew you first need to see how bad it is and if you think there could be some that you can’t see. 

First, if you can, place the item in the sun.  UV rays kill mildew and will stop it from spreading. 

Start with the least abbrassive / harsh cleaner and try them first, such as bathroom cleaner or soap and water and move towards the harsher cleaners such as mildew killers and bleach.

If you think the mildew is under the caulk or in another area you can’t see then it is best to remove the caulk, vinyl or other surface that you believe the mildew could be under. 

Then clean the whole area with a mildew killer and re-caulk or replace the vinyl.
