Corrosion in Your Plumbing can Lead to Costly Problems

Corrosion in your plumbing can be rare with the pipes available today.  To ensure you are not at risk for corrosion in your pipes it is best to go with quality materials such as copper for the supply and PVC / CPVC for drain.  A relatively new type of piping is PEX.  PEX is being widely used for all piping in the homes due to its strength and corrosion resistance.
If you have an older house it would be very wise to check and notice the type of plumbing you have.

Types:

PEX has become widely used in plumbing thanks to its flexibility.  With the use of PEX there is less need for elbow joints and cutting or splicing. PEX is corrosion proof due to the materials it is made of, a cross-linked high-density polyethylene.

PVC / CPVC
PVC and CPVC pipes are widely used for the drainage in plumbing due to its high impact and strength and corrosion resistant properties.

Copper
Copper pipes are widely used for the Supply piping in homes due to their high corrosion resistance.  The main weak spot with copper pipes is where they are joined the soldering done on the joinery.
