Carpet on a Boat Can Harbor Mold and Mildew
Depending on the size of your boat you may find yourself with the convenience of having carpeting onboard. If so, consider a carpet that repels water, dries quickly and is easy to keep clean.
Carpet will always be a home for moisture and mildew, make sure it has a chance to dry out, breathe and be exposed to UV rays to kill spores and mildew.
If you have carpet inside your cabin, first spray a coating over it that repels dirt, and if you have air conditioning on your boat make sure to use the Dry mode at times to suck up the moisture in the area where carpet and soft upholstered furniture may be.
Common sense, carpet on a boat will always be a challenge as it will always get wet, be hard to dry and loves to make mildew.
