Take Care of Your Seat!
There are two types of motorcycle seats available today, vinyl and leather.
New Vinyl seats come with mildew, water and UV protectors in them. And when they get wet, all they need is a wipe down. Vinyl is as close to maintenance free as you can get.
Leather seats need more care than a vinyl seat. If leather seats get wet they need to be dried as soon as possible by taken them off the bike and stand them on end. The foam in the seat if left saturated will mildew.
Use a leather cleaner / protectant for your bikes seat to help keep the seat water proof and supple.
Leather seats also need more UV protection. Covering your seat with a cloth when not in use is essential to prolong the life of your leather seat.
When cleaning your bike be careful not to saturate your seat. Don’t use any spray gloss or other oil based protectors on your seat, these can make the seat slick and dangerous.
