Awnings

The Awnings on your RV can be a haven for mold and mildew.  To prevent this from happening it takes a little extra care and then you are free from a lot of worry!  The number one rule with an awning is to never store it wet.  Unrolling an awning that was damp is not a pleasant experience.  Keep your awning clean and protected.  There are multiple ways to clean your awning.

First remove any and all debris from your awning.  Some solutions for cleaning an awning are diluted bleach solutions, dishwashing liquid solutions, eco-cleaners, vinegar and also bathroom mold and mildew remover cleaners.  Of course there are also products specifically for cleaning and RV awning.

To apply some of these solutions use a mop or a garden sprayer to soak your awning.  When cleaning your awning soak it in any solution you choose and then roll it up and let it sit for a period of time from 10-30 minutes or longer if you choose.  It is best to do this on a cloudy day are your awning could dry out before you rinse the solution out.

Also, don’t forget to clean the valance on your awning if there is one.
After you have cleaned your awning apply a UV protector to it and let the awning dry completely before storing.
