Pay Some Attention to Your Engine

The key to preventing rust in and around your engine is keeping up on the routine maintenance your truck or SUV needs such as oil changes and 30,000 mile checkups.  To keep the exterior of your engine free of rust you can spray the entire engine compartment with a fine mist of lubricating spray once or twice a year depending on the conditions you regularly drive in.

If you live in an area where they apply salt to the roads in the winter it is ideal to wash your engine every time you regularly wash your truck or SUV during the winter to rinse off any salt residue from the roads. 

If you live near the ocean, make it a part of your routine when you wash your truck or SUV to spray down your engine and undercarriage to get rid of any salt that has coated your engine. 
If you use your truck or SUV off roading or in extreme conditions be sure to give your engine a rinse at the end of a trip or 4-wheeling expedition.
