Siding
The siding of a home can be many different materials, from brick to wood shingles to vinyl siding.
After you choose the type of siding right for you and your home, it is important to maintain the siding to keep it corrosion free.
Vinyl Siding
Vinyl siding is made from PVC and comes in a range of colors and thickness. Remember with vinyl siding you get what you pay for, so for a better product it is best to choose a thicker quality of siding. It is very important to make sure the area between the siding and your home is either properly ventilated or insulated to keep moisture from building up in this area and causing mold, mildew and rot problems.
To keep vinyl siding in its best condition wash with a garden hose twice a year.
Wood Siding
To keep wood siding from corroding it is best to paint and stain it on a regular schedule. A properly prepared surface that is painted and stained with 2 coats of quality paint can last up to 5-10 years depending on the environmental surroundings. Although prepping, and painting or staining a whole house is a daunting job, it is worth it in the long run to keep your wood siding in good condition and protect it from the elements.
